*UPDATE ON MOM* (Part 2) Mom (Ms. Konz to her former students) - TopicsExpress

*UPDATE ON MOM* (Part 2) Mom (Ms. Konz to her former students) had surgery today and it went, to quote the doctor reasonably well. What that means is that he found something he didnt expect while he was doing the surgery which means, basically, there was more there on her left side that was causing a little more pressure in her head than just what the old blood was. They cleared out the blood that had built up, and shes resting in the ICU room they gave her. Last I was with her today, she seemed to still kinda be recovering and waking up from the anesthesia post-surgery, but doing just fine. Ill be spending some time with her tomorrow and then will check up on her as the next several days go by to see how shes doing. She might stay at the hospital for about a week - Id guess, and this is purely a guess, until at least Thurs. or Fri. but its better to make sure she doesnt come back home too early, so thats fine. She apparently had one of the best surgeons for this that weve got in Midland right now, so we were very blessed indeed with that. Plus her medial staff - RNs, Nurses Aides, PAs, etc. have all been GREAT and have been very helpful and attentive so that puts all of us in the family at ease when we leave her room. Thanks to all of you who have sent prayers up, wished her well, etc. It has been, and continues to be, VERY much appreciated. I dont know yet how long the recovery time period will be once shes home, when exactly she can reasonably go back to school, etc. As for the weakness in her muscles from this, I dont know if shes going to end up needing some Physical Therapy or not in order to get normal again. Well see what happens there, but again - thanks for all the love and concern yall have showed her and please keep her in your prayers as this Im sure will be a bit of a process for her to get back to normal. It doesnt sound like it will take months, but you all know mom - she does NOT do the sitting still and taking it easy thing very well, so I hope she DOES listen and do exactly that for a while ;)
