UPDATE ON MY HOAGIE MAN BASSET .... today we started on the oral meds. no more shots. he is eating really good for me and slowly due to me not giving him much at a time but he wants more. he is peeing and pooping good and today the poop was not green... YEAH!! he is wanting to go out onto the deck for some sun and i am putting the gate up so he cannot try the steps..he is really looking good. not growling at the other hounds and letting them come near him.. i am thankful more than words can say. i am well aware i was very close to loosing this handsome boy. since this happened i have learned of so many that didnt make it. my heart is broken for that.. if you are not sure what bloat is or what it looks like please look it up. I have had times i feared an action one of the hounds did was bloat and about a wk ago Maggie may ate all that food she found on her own and i almost had this same thing with her but Dr. Leddings was able to make her throw up and she still came home with a full tummy but at that point she was able to digest it ..what i saw Maggie doing the swelling of the tummy was NOTHING compared to what Hoagie did that night. I feel sure Maggie was heading into trouble but the my vet stopped it.. Hoagies happened so much faster and with such violence it is hard to think back on it. thank you all for your prayers and support. here is my beautiful boy today. i called the ER vet to give them a report back last night and they were very thankful .
