UPDATE ON PEGGY Peggy has been to see vet Peter today. Not the best news sadly. Unfortunately some scar tissue has formed around her jaw which is limiting the movement of her mouth. It is not as bad as we feared but of course we always hope for the best possible outcome. This now means we have two options. Option A) Would be to leave her as she is. Vet Peter has confirmed that she will still have a very good quality of life. He is very happy with her overall and she has even gained some weight! Option B) Would be to put her through surgery again. It would not be as invasive as last time but I worry we have already put her through enough. Even if she does have surgery again, all we can do is hope that it doesn’t form again and put her on steroids for a very long time to try to stop the scar tissue forming. It is such a tough call to make, it is not as simple as black and white. So we have come to the decision that we are going to wait a week before we do anything. In a weeks’ time we will weigh Peggy again. If her weight is stable or she has put on weight then we will leave her to be and start to look for a very special forever home for her. If she has started to lose weight then I think we have no other option then to fundraise again and put her through surgery and put her on steroids. Other than that Peggy is a VERY happy little girl. She loves human companionship and has great manners with other cats. She has settled so well in the cattery and really does love it there. She is being spoilt rotten by Joy. I visited her yesterday morning for a big cuddle and lots of fuss, and saw that she has the most blankets and toys out of all the cats there, including all the boarders! She is eating well and such a sweet heart. Yesterday she had a health checked as part of her vaccination at another of our vets and they were very happy. Oh Peggy, we hope you know that we are trying our very best for you darling. We all love you very much.
