UPDATE ON “RED” – It’s been eleven weeks since we adopted this beautiful senior (almost 12) bulldog and I truly believe she was handpicked from God to help me through this horrific chemo. I have to share a story that some of you may understand. RED is very habitual, she will only go from where she sleeps to the door a few feet away to go outside. No matter how much coaxing we do, she will not go anywhere else in my home. We try and try and she just stands and looks at us and then goes back to her bed. Well, this past week was by far the most difficult time I’ve had with my chemotherapy, my resilience had been exceeded and my spirit was becoming broken from all the discomfort of my treatment. If giving up was an option, I think I would have taken it. Unfortunately, I had to get up to go to the bathroom and only made it as far as my bedroom floor. I laid in a ball, with my head on the floor, trying to get enough strength to get up and move a little more. This was the most suffering I’ve ever been through in my life. My bedroom door was open and I could see that my son is letting RED outside. I put my head back down on the floor and close my eyes and I just don’t know how I’m going to get through this discomfort, I know it is more than I can bare. In moments, I hear RED’s footsteps on my hardwood floor – not going outside – but coming closer to my room, where she has never been in the eleven weeks that I have had her. She walked right inside my room as I lay there and put her head right by my head and stood quietly…I immediately started to cry…and cry…and cry….and she just stayed there with me on the floor. Our souls spoke, I swear they did, I know this little soul knew I needed something to help me get off that floor. I can’t explain what made her do an about face as she was stepping outside and come to me at that moment, I know that she is a true angel and I know that she had then rescued me.
