Site visit was done on the 13th of January and PPDAB was to have awarded the project on the 21st of March. The project is expected to start next financial year (April 2014). The works to be undertaken are resealing and construction of culverts along Kunyere River in Toteng. REHABILITATION OF TSAU- NOKANENG ROAD The project is also expected to be done next financial year (April 2014). The tender documents are PPDAB for vetting process. The works to be undertaken here are resealing and improving the width of the road. FMD/BMC FMD situation in our area is stable. There has been no outbreak experienced recently. Buying of cattle: BMC has bought 13559 cattle in zone 2D (Ngamiland). That is double the number bought in 2012 which was only 6700 cattle. 5552 cattle have been sold to Zimbabwe market in 2013 through the live trade market. All those sold to Zimbabwe market have been procured from hyena veld protected zones. The VET officers in Botswana are still to liaise with VET officers in Zimbabwe to expand to other areas which are not affected by FMD; these areas include A2A, A2D and even A2C at a later stage. Right now BMC is still buying in A2D. Expectation is that they will be done in A2D by April and move to A2C. The target is to buy 10000 cattle (Maun BMC). Negotiations are still on-going to sell also to Angola market. Once they have secured a route through Namibia then we will be able to sell to them.
