UPDATE ON ROBERT: My brother just finished up 2 bone marrow transplants last Feb. after his cancer came back. He has been back to work and has felt pretty damn good as of late. Well, since it had been 3 months after his 100 day recovery from the stem cell transplant (another name for bone marrow transplant) they brought him back in for blood work and a PET Scan to monitor his progress. Last week he saw his Ecologist and was told that tumor markers (these are certain proteins found in the blood stream) had come back up higher than before the stem cell procedure. So, Robert met with a surgeon today. There are 3 tumors total. 2 behind his abdomen and 1 in his chest. They cant remove the one in the chest easily. So, theyre gonna remove the other 2 and check his proteins after surgery to see if it is benign or if he needs a 3rd round of chemo. If not, it will be surgery again after this one. Surgery is Tue. 5 days in hospital and 7 weeks to recover.
