UPDATE ON THE PERSECUTION OF THE HOMELESS IN FORT LAUDERDALE Sent tonight to the mayor: Well, Mayor Seiler, Guess what! People were arrested today for feeding the homeless in Fort Lauderdale. I know, since I was standing right there and witnessed it. They were feeding the homeless when Fort Lauderdale police arrested them for ignoring the order to cease feeding the homeless. A sergeant told a homeless woman, There will be no more feeding here. She asked him why, but he refused to answer. So I chimed in and said that it was a reasonable question, and I asked the whole assembly if anyone could explain why the homeless would no longer be fed there. No one had an answer. The sergeant refused to respond. So I told him that next Friday I would be the one he will have to arrest for serving the food. (I asked whether I could reserve a particular cell, but he would not answer that either.) Now, Mayor, I am asking you to put an end to this immoral madness and to order the police to cease and desist from preventing the people from doing Gods will by feeding the homeless. Stop arresting people for feeding others in need. Abolish the immoral law you have unwisely legislated. Save your political career, the reputation of Fort Lauderdale, and your soul.
