UPDATE: SAS has been turfed out of the Australian Open of Surfing, or else were told we risk Manly Council slapping us with a HUGE fine for...charity fundraising. Given the SAS HQ is essentially in Manly, how about some context: Kelly Slater spent *hours* signing autographs and posing for pics after the Surfers Against Suicide Pro-Am comp on Manly Beach last April (check out the footage below courtesy of GazCarr at gcimagery.net) as compared to his presence at the previous years Manly Surf Reserve opening ceremony, which the Manly Council botched and people got angry at Kelly for not spending time with the assembled crowd. Hey Manly Council, thanks for all your support and for NOT answering our calls over 2 months ago when we approached you to be involved with #AusOpenofSurf SAS PEEPS: US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK OF THIS in the comments below and well be sure to pass it along to Manly Council...if they ever come out of hiding to answer their phones.
