UPDATE STATUS: On behalf of my nephew, David Padilla, I would like to thank you for the continued messages of support and encouragement for David’s recovery process. Words cannot begin to express the appreciation I feel, as your well wishes have been instrumental in giving David the knowledge that he is remembered and loved. Your kind words have uplifted him and given him the sense that he is not alone in his fight to recover after his devastating stroke. An unexpected situation has arisen which I wish to share with you. Many of the calls David receives are from outside the United States. And while these calls have been amazing for him – they have resulted in his mother receiving outrageous phone bills. His mother is also absorbing the costs of caring for David – which are substantial – and these out of the country phone calls are not something she was prepared for. She has not to date changed her service plan – and am not sure she will. So, for the time being, in order to prevent any stress David may feel as a result of bills his mother does not expect, nor want, anyone who is currently calling him from outside the United States should please wait until this issue is resolved. David needs peace, rest and love during his recovery not conflicts with his mother – who is his primary caretaker. It has been called to my attention that these calls, well meant as they have been, are one of the reasons his mother wishes to place him in a nursing home. So, please, let’s continue to unite as one to help prevent that from happening. Once again, thank you so very much – for everything. Kirby Sommers (David’s aunt)
