UPDATE: Salaams All, A serious incident has taken place - TopicsExpress

UPDATE: Salaams All, A serious incident has taken place today. We were notified by several members that Mahnayah Couture aka Saima Ara Ali was advertising her goods but when people ordered, goods did not arrive and refunds were not given. In fact she blocked those clients after making endless excuses not to pay. As Admins of this group, it is our responsibility to ensure members are made aware of this once our investigations confirmed the accusations. It appears many people have been swindled, and only one member that we know of, managed to get her money back after two months of hassling. Although, Saimas friend has asked us to hold off getting the authorities involved as Saima is now willing to refund all owed, we have had no confirmation yet that any refund was made. Saima left our business group of her own accord and then requested to rejoin in order to give her side of the story. What she did in the process is block all people concerned about this issue including those she took money from, Admin, as well as anybody who has commented. She then proceeded to make further excuses that it was her supplier who let everyone down and so not really her fault. She added that she has now paid back one member (Admin has not received any confirmation whether a refund has indeed been made!). All those she blocked, could not comment, respond or question her. This shows that indeed she was not genuine; she strategically blocked us to have her say and then expected us to accept that she has made refunds. We will not tolerate any form of disrespect, dishonesty, or any breach of trust from any members, whether it is a buyer or seller. We created this group so that all can benefit each other by supporting Muslim businesses and empowering them instead of going elsewhere. We are managing this group for the Sake of Allah SWT. What we do not expect is people to swindle or break basic contractual agreements, as this goes against the very ethos of any Muslim business. For now, any body who buys online, please do your research. Check to ensure that there are genuine reviews. Post their company online and ask if anybody has ordered from them if you cannot find any reviews. Try to use PayPal where you can and register it as a payment for services/goods, not gifts. Ask about their return/refund policy. Ensure they have legitimate contact details including proof of address/ID. Please note: Refunds can only be given if there is proof that a transfer has taken place. Keep all records! If you find that they are not genuine and have not resolved your situation, there are a few actions you can take: 1. Collate all evidence of communications 2. Find if any one else has had a similar experience and collect your evidences together 3. Take a unified collective action as strength in numbers; can file a report to the police. 4. Report to FB (if FB group) for false advertising and breach of trading standards. They will also take their page down. 5. You can sue them via commercial law Please take a moment to read about fraud online: actionfraud.police.uk/fraud-az-online-shopping-fraud which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/shopping which.co.uk/consumer-rights/action/how-to-get-your-money-back-after-a-scam forums.moneysavingexpert/showthread.php?t=102548 forums.moneysavingexpert/showthread.php?t=258223 https://answers.yahoo/question/index?qid=20100426011211AAwpHFp https://paypal/uk/webapps/helpcenter/helphub/article/?solutionId=FAQ2276&topicID=REFUNDS_HELPHUB&m=TCI which.co.uk/consumer-rights/problem/can-i-claim-against-paypal-if-i-dont-get-what-i-paid-for https://forums.digitalpoint/threads/paypal-how-to-get-your-money-back-from-scammers.1239667/ A last point: it is a real shame that genuine fb sellers may now have their businesses suffer. The way we can combat this is, let us all share collectively any reviews and feedback of our experiences with buyers from our group, so that others will feel confident that these sellers are reliable. Without reviews and feedback, it makes it all more difficult to distinguish between the genuine and the fakes. A heartfelt thank you to all those buyers and sellers who have shown professionalism in their conduct as well as Islamic etiquette. May Allah SWT protect and reward you all. Ameen. Wassalaam, Admin
