UPDATE Summary of current Warnings in place across New Brunswick please READ ENTIRE POST Winter Storm Warnings Acadian Peninsula Bathurst and Chaleur Region Fredericton and Southern York County Grand Lake and Queens County Kouchibouguac National Park Miramichi and Area Kent County Mount Carleton - Renous Highway Oromocto and Sunbury County St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County Stanley - Doaktown - Blackville Area A low pressure system is forecast to develop off the U.S. eastern seaboard on Saturday and track towards the Maritimes. Snow ahead of this system will begin Saturday evening and continue through the night before tapering off on Sunday morning. It is likely that some southern regions could see the snow becoming mixed with freezing rain or ice pellets Saturday night. Total snowfall amounts of 20 to 25 centimetres can be expected over most central regions of the province with higher amounts possible over some areas. Strong northerly winds on Saturday night will also cause frequent blowing snow especially along coastal regions. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Winter Storm Warnings are issued when multiple types of severe winter weather are expected to occur together. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Snowfall Warning Woodstock and Carleton County Grand Falls and Victoria County Campbellton and Restigouche County Moncton and south east nb Kings county Snowfall, with total amounts of about 15 cm is expected. A low pressure system is forecast to develop off the U.S. eastern seaboard on Saturday and track towards the Maritimes. Snow ahead of this system will begin Saturday evening and continue through the night before tapering off on Sunday morning. Total snowfall amounts near 15 centimetres are currently expected with this system. Localized blowing snow is also likely on Saturday night. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Snowfall Warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Rainfall Warning Saint John and County Fundy National Park Grand Manan and Coastal Charlotte County Rain, heavy at times is expected. The frozen ground has a reduced ability to absorb this rainfall. A low pressure system is forecast to develop off the U.S. eastern seaboard on Saturday and track towards the Maritimes. Snow mixed with rain will begin Saturday afternoon along the Fundy coast. Precipitation will become predominantly snow in the early parts of Saturday evening but will change to rain at times heavy later on Saturday evening. The rain will continue through Saturday night before changing back to snow towards dawn Sunday. The snow will taper off Sunday morning. Areas along the Fundy coast can expect 20 to 30 millimetres of rain as well as about 10 centimetres of snow. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
