UPDATE: This morning I donated bone marrow to a little girl with sickle cell anemia. My bone marrow has been transferred out of the hospital and the little girl will be receiving it sometime this afternoon or evening. It will take her one to two months to recover in the hospital. I have one year of anonymous contact with her. After one year I will have the opportunity to meet this little girl in person! I cant even imagine how amazing that will be! I am currently on medication for the pain and discomfort. I am about to be transported to a nice private room in the hospital to stay overnight. I definitely cried from happiness when I checked my Facebook and noticed that over 100 people liked my donation status from earlier, many others wished me luck and shared how proud they are in comments and messages, and very close friends and family sent me powerful text messages and voicemails. I want to especially thank Amanda Grace Richardson who has been with me to almost every single bone marrow appointment and trip since day one. You are truly a best friend and a great person. I really hope that you get the opportunity to become a match since you joined the BeTheMatch Registry and get the chance to save a life, too! Thank you again everyone for caring and supporting me through this two year process, especially the kind words from yesterday and today!!
