UPDATE: (Via a text from my mom) Everyday we have more to celebrate. Zack saw his neuro surgeon on Monday afternoon and based on the results of the last couple tests the doctor has confirmed that he does NOT have a CSF leak in his skull. The relief is awesome. The surgery would have involved cutting into his muscle & skull, repairing the leak and putting him back together with titanium for a 3-6 month recovery. Since we are NOT doing that the nuero surgeon has cleared him for just about everything. First, he is starting back at PT and OT next week. He started another online class today and is now able to plan his classes for next semester back at Harding! He still has a slight hearing loss in his right ear, but he seems to manage without too much trouble. We are down to the big ONE - his vision. His right eye is still unable to track because of the palsy he suffered during the accident or subsequent strokes. The doctors still have hope that this will resolve itself. It can take up to a year so we will have to be patient, and Zack will continue to wear a patch to alleviate double vision. Hes in good spirits even joking that he will have to be a pirate this Halloween because of his eye patch. After a year has passed a surgery can be performed.
