UPDATE 10/30: The results of the 2nd MDAS Distemper test is in and as we here at DOTM felt all along, SPOTIE is negative for Distemper! A little background... We were called from MDAS and told that we must pick Spotie up by 4PM on Saturday, October 11th or she would have to be euthanized because she tested positive for Distemper. We scrambled and finally found a ER vet to take her and isolate her. Not easy on a Saturday afternoon. She was definitely sick (URI!) but had no signs of Distemper at all. We kept her under constant care at our vet in Isolation vet boarding and a few weeks later, retested her at our vet specialists. It was NEGATIVE. MDAS would not accept that particular test (they use another) and so we brought her back to MDAS for their test this past Saturday 10/27 and then whisked her away again. Today 10/30, in response to our email asking for test results, we received word that their test is also NEGATIVE. We are all so delighted! We have been informed that she cannot be moved back to their boarding facility due to testing going on down there of other dogs. They do not want any new dogs to be boarded until all testing is complete and we agree. This fundraiser will help cover her boarding elsewhere until transport. We do not know when that will be and will await word from MDAS as to when all transports can be moving again. We will adjust this fundraiser if necessary. Thank you. DOGS ON THE MOVE
