UPDATE We are on Day Two for being post-hospital. We have had a steady flow of supervising nurses and techs to evaluate Dads health, educate us on Moms meds and incision treatment, bring in another power lift chair, bring in a hospital bed for Dad and three different briefing on how to treat and monitor a patient who is now on Coumadin (but now they call it wafarin). We actually keep a separate daily pill reminder for the Coumadin. You even have to monitor how many green vegetables the patient is allowed to eat AND measure it out each time they eat any Vit-K vegetables. Trips to the grocery store have us buying whole grain foods, throwing out processed foods, throwing out canned things in favor of fresh and frozen foods. no more processed cheeses or yellow cheeses- we now get block and white cheeses, salt substitute and throw out the salt. I have had to become a pharmacist and nutritionist overnight. Tomorrow takes us to the store to get safety and helpful gadgets: rubberized bathroom mats, extend grabbers so mom does not lean over too much, etc. Mom is tolerating more activity and was very grateful that my sister has been able to help her shower. Dads communication has dropped off dramatically with the progression of his Parkisons and dementia. He comes out with things that astound and cause me to tear up: Last night I offered to pray as I put him in bed He asked me to pray that he would be Faithful to the end!-- I told him that he had already done that! I asked him if he wanted to pray--- he did. My Father who has a hard time talking at all still as no problem talking to God!! Ecclesiastes 3 tells us that God makes everything Beautiful in its Time. Each Season brings changes that must be navigated. We are in one of those Seasons. Beauty is not in the eye of the beholder for too often what we see is the first impression. Beauty is in the eye of The Beholder: He who beholds us from the perspective of Eternity and helps me look again to see the Beauty He has already ordained for this particular Season. Thanks for your many prayers and words of encouragement.
