UPDATE: Yesterday Katrina Beers saw her Orthopedic doctor and they were happy with the healing process her left leg has taken. She was cleared to bear weight on it now, so when she returned to Bryn Mawr yesterday afternoon, the physical therapists grabbed her right up and started working on her! Her doctor examined her right eye, the one that had severe damage and didnt even open until a couple weeks ago. The pink eye has cleared and surprisingly the eye is also healing! It is blinking on its own, and her eye is tracking with the same movements as the left eye. They are so thrilled about that, and are hopeful that it will continue to heal and she may have a chance at vision with that eye. The doctors are full speed ahead on working with question and answering. They want to get Katrina to start responding with yes & no in some form - whether its head nodding, thumbs up and down, or something similar. They are sure that shes understanding us, and that shes just having trouble getting her words out. If they can get her to respond to yes & no, we will know so much more about what is happening with her mentally and physically, because shell be able to respond!! Were so anxious about that!!! Its been 93 days.... one week and it will be 100 days. Its so crazy to think how far shes come since her brush with death. Katrina is amazing, and she will continue to fight.
