UPDATE from Euan Clark on Poppy adopted in 2010 & Carrie adopted in 2013 through CTRF Cairn Terrier Rescue Thank YOU Euan for giving these 2 girls a loving secure home POPPY (wheaten) came to us in Dec 2010 via Trustee Chris M Roberts aged 12 months. I was her fourth(!) owner in a year so, as you might imagine, I had a LOT of work to do to restore her confidence. It took about 6 months, helped greatly by my elderly JRT Sammy (sadly now gone) who showed her the ropes and set ground rules in a way only Jack Russells can... CARRIE (brindle) came in Nov 2013 via Susan Weinberger aged 5 years. Carrie did have some stability in her past but like Poppy she was MASSIVELY under-confident. She would jump at her own shadow for the first few days and, given half a chance, would hide away out of sight. Very, very timid and withdrawn. Poppy came to the rescue as Sammy had done with her and showed Carrie how to walk on the lead, climb stairs, relax and generally be a Cairn. Within days, Carrie had changed and started to relax. She no longer jumps out of her skin at the first sign of a dustbin(!) or runs away if the doorbell goes. She adores Poppy, although there are occasional rumblings if Poppy is being too boisterous with her, and has fully settled into our house and life here. Carrie and Poppys favourite pastime is playing catch with my 5 year old daughter. They can go for hours on end! These two really are the best little pals in the world to each other, as well as to me and Lydia, and it is a privilege and an honour to be able to give them both a wonderful life and a second chance. Thank you so much CTRF!!
