UPDATE from WILLOW STREET PARK and its Tree Pruning activities: as of the new year 2014, all of the trees in the park are being trimmed; as first it started with the Live Oaks and now continues with the giant Redwoods, as seen here as of Wednesday 5 February 2014. This is a update to an album shared from WGNAs alternate Page, Urban Ecology - WGNA, Tree Pruning at Willow Street Park… Trimming the trees to this height prevents crime and gives the San Jose Police Department a clear line-of-site and helps deter crime. The city is working Willow Street-Frank Bramhall Park, thanks to our Councilmember Pierluigi Oliverio. Similarly, WGNA worked California Assemblymember Paul Fong in our Blight to Bright program to create another line-of-site along Interstate-280, the pocket-areas of which have been the scene of crime and blight in our neighborhood. Its these connections between livable spaces, urban ecology and public safety that WGNA has been working to improve. By the way, WGNA also considers these oaks and redwoods Heritage Trees of sorts, whether or not its officially recognized by the city. #Urban Ecology #SanJoseCA #WillowGlen #UrbanEcologWG #PRNS #Parks #Redwoods #WGNA #HotSpotsEcology #HeritageTrees #LivableStreets #PublicSafety
