UPDATE on Danny: The UW headache specialist Natalia Murinova said he has been diagnosed correctly with Occipital Neuralgia. She said it is common in men over 6 5. But especially for those who have had head trauma or surgery. Also being his height, having poor posture do to compensating in a world designed for shorter people (than him), along with the stressful positioning of his body during the brain surgery done 13 years a ago we have a recipe for occipital neuralgia. She does not recommend any procedure for him at this time. What she does recommend is some core & back muscle strengthening through the use of TRX. She also suggested increasing endorphins through exercise, more am sunlight and the use of a happy light and the herb feverfew(available in tea form), and vitamin B supplements to counteract the pain chemicals being released with this condition. She also has also referred him for muscle regeneration injections to help rebuild the muscles and tendons in his back & shoulders that are causing the pain in his occipital nerves. Together she says he should see improvement within 3 to 6 months. We are optimistic (and a bit shocked if I am to be completely honest), that this prescription for relief is so natural-based, seemingly simple and relatively inexpensive! We are to follow up with her in 5 months (that was her next available appointment) and do a consultation (also at UW) for the muscle regeneration in December. If you are willing, please continue to pray that Danny will have the self-discipline to follow these recommendations, that I will continue to be a godly support for him, that we will have the resources to make this all attainable and finally that the Lord will grant healing and relief from this pain that has plagued my husband for so long.
