UPDATE on Erin: Its the unexpected that changes are lives. Erin and Bryce have dealt with this phrase since the very beginning. From the moment these two met, to finishing schooling and finding new jobs and a new home, finding out that they were expecting a precise baby, to dealing with a life threatening stroke. Rather good or bad, these unexpected events have forever changed their lives. The greatest unexpected event that has happened thus far in their young lives, is the birth of their new baby this past Monday, October 27th. ITS A GIRL! Ariana Ashley Kinniry unexpectedly entered this world 9 days before the scheduled c-section was to take place. She weighed in at 5 lbs and 14 ozs and 19 3/4 inches long. What was to be a casual Monday in the household, suddenly turned around in a hurry that very day. Erin had been experiencing contractions 10-20 minutes apart. As a precaution, Erin and Bryce headed down to Rochester just to get checked out. The contractions started getting stronger on the way down and once they arrived at the hospital they hooked up monitors to track the babys heart rate along with Erins contractions. At this time, the babys heart rate started dropping significantly which almost led to an emergency c-section. The babys heart rate began to increase, but it was decided by the doctors that she would not be leaving the hospital without delivering the baby. As if that was not unexpected enough, the team of doctors highly suggested that Erin should be completely put under for the surgery as they felt this was the safer way for her with the brain injury. After all was said and done, Erin and baby both came out of surgery healthy and safe. The proud new parents definitely took that casual Monday to a whole new level. Erin, Bryce and Ariana stayed at the hospital until Friday afternoon. During this time, Erin and Bryce quickly learned the ropes of parenthood. Of course, nothing could surpass them with not being unexpected. The first night in the hospital, Ariana woke up in the middle of the night puking up some blood. In a nervous wreck, they quickly called in the nurses who quickly reassured them that that is too be expected with a c-section delivery and apologized for not warning them about it. Thursday night, also caught Bryce in a worried panic when Erin started experiencing bad headaches behind her eyes (the same type of headaches she had in the ICU that led to the emergency surgery). These headaches lasted throughout the night which left Bryce sleepless, worrying about the unexpected all over again. After demanding for a neurosurgeon evaluation, the team arrived the next morning. At this time the headaches had subsided which led the neurosurgeon team to clear her for departure that afternoon. There has not been another experience of these headaches since. The new family got to come home Friday afternoon. It was a great feeling for everyone to finally be home again. Erin is recovering from her c-section surgery and will have to take things pretty easy for the next couple weeks. She has been experiencing some chills over the last couple days. This will be monitored closely as risk of infection is always a possibility during c-sections. The families on both sides were more then willing to lend a helping hand to Erin and Bryce this weekend so they could get there much needed sleep and rest.
