UPDATE on Erin: What a memorable weekend it has been for all of us, especially Erin. Being home feels like a vacation for Erin. She has worked SO hard to get to this point. Erin had a busy weekend. Friday she had a doctor appointment in Owatonna just to meet and greet with her new family doctor (she previously did not have one in the area). The reason for this is to be able to have a doctor that is familiar about Erins stroke so that if something small comes up, such as a sore throat, she can go to this doctor instead of going all the way to Rochester. After this we went to Walmart to stock up on groceries. Later Friday night, we shocked some sweet corn and cooked them for dinner (one of Erins favorite foods). Saturday was Erins welcome home grill out with family. What an amazing day this was for Erin to socialize with all of us without being stuck in a hospital bed. She was able to sit outside for quite some time and watch the guys play bean bags. Later that night they had a bonfire for Erin to enjoy. Sunday Erin and Bryce went to register for Baby K. Only 3 months to go! Erin keeps saying how Baby K is kicking the crap outta her ribs. He/she is a very active baby in there for her. She has been having some back pain problems which could also be a part of the pregnancy kicking in. Overall Erin is doing excellent! Being home puts her in such a great mood. She is still very determined to get that left side working again. Erin is the one who keeps reminding us to do her daily therapy sessions at home :) Monday starts her 4 days a week of therapy in Rochester. She has 2 sessions tomorrow starting bright and early at 8am. Now that Erin is in outpatient therapy, she will have different therapists then whom she had previously. Even though Erin is in outpatient therapy, she still must have someone with her at all times during being home. She is still in a very critical position with that right side bone flap still gone. This is why we constantly need someone with her to ensure she doesnt fall and hit her head (although she is getting better at walking, she is not strong enough to be on her own without guidance). Bryce will be starting his full days of work on Monday. We will have various family members who will stay with Erin throughout the week and bring her to therapy during the week. You have worked so incredibly hard to get here Erin. No one knows how you did it but you pulled through and beat the odds! Enjoy being home Erin, you deserve it!
