UPDATE on NYs Equine Inherent Risk Legislation..... On Monday, the bill was introduced in the Assembly (AGAIN!), sponsored by Bill Magee. It was given the Bill# A01476. As of today, it has been introduced into the NYS Senate, sponsored by Senator Patty Ritchie (Watertown), given the bill # S1823. AS HAS HAPPENED FOR THE LAST 16+ YEARS, it has been referred to the Judiciary Committee of both houses, where it will die once again if WE, the horse owners, riders, drivers, trainers, etc cannot UNITE! PLEASE HELP us work together as a strong UNITED VOICE that they can no longer ignore! The first action is to contact your assembly person and senator. Call, email and MOST IMPORTANT, snail mail a letter. Fax it as well, if they have a fax number posted. Remember - a written letter holds the most weight with staffers, email and petitions the least weight.
