UPDATE: ...the neuro surgeon came this morning and gave us the facts...there is some effected area in the interior skull, and the 1cm abscess behind the left eye. The left orbit is filled with fluid and infection (normally clean, neither should be there) and all the sinuses are completely blocked with fluid and infection. The bone in the forehead is filled with infection and has some degradation. We saw the optician again this morning and they redid the optical nerve tests and will do so every day until he is clear, with another negative result...no nerve damage!!! Woohoo!!!The swelling has reduced, and Bennys spirits are much higher, he still says he is scared when they talk about the brain and possible surgery! Both neuro and ENT are waiting again until tomorrow to make any decisions regarding surgery to drain the sinuses, abscess and area behind the skull... Bennys pain has been 0 as of the last 24 hours which is HUGE! Eli is here visiting now and Benny keeps asking where all the visitors are!!! Awesome! Love it!!! Thats how we are...oh forgot the neuro says we are here for at least 5 more days as they will want to redo the MRI then and will reassess...they are talking weeks of iv antibiotics, probably a pic line so we can do from home/just a visit, not stay for all that time, but really dont want to talk timeline until they decide in the next couple if days possibility of surgery...which will be reevaluated every morning... Im doing okay...some really great things...we have a few friends that work here and have been in to visit a couple times a shift...and one of those friends works with the neuro surgeon on our team and has helped put most in perspective...what wonderful experience and blessing to have Lisa Dormer Njau and Andrea Chan drop in to say hi bring a coffee/dinner or play a game... We are progressing!!! Thanks again for all the prayers and love!!!
