UPDATES! Hi all. Just updating you on a few things as didnt get chance to talk to you all after the lecture. I met with Janet and other options co-ordinators this morning to discuss spaces and events for Options assessment week (Wednesday 11th to Friday 13th, with most things happening on the Thursday). Janet has booked BZ 103, 303 and 403 for the Thursday and Friday for students to potentially give presentations or hold seminars/symposia, which will be open to staff and students to attend. Provisionally, CT is marked in for 4-6 on Thursday 12th for you to deliver some content on your exhibitions. This should include documentation, such as photographs. You can present in groups. There should also be some written content to the presentations - or a link to a blog. This is the written component (I havent set an essay or reflective piece but just stipulated that there needs to be some written as well as visual record, which can be presented). In terms of potential exhibition spaces, all of Benzie is apparently booked up expcept Janet has reserved BZ 514, 516 and 614 for 2 days on Wed 11th and Thurs 12 so you could put up a very temporary exhibition there. I spoke to Stephen C Nuttall who is trying to secure a place in Federation House. Janet suggested that where possible you find your own spaces as the MAs are student led and collaborative. You also need to fill in a risk assessment. I will send you the form. Make sure your chosen place has clear walkthroughs, no hazards, etc. I have enquired about the Link Gallery and the Holden side space and both are booked up for that week. Claire Baker - I mentioned to Janet that I would assess your work the week before or after as I remember you said you were on a college trip the given week. Janet said that you need to have completed your part before you go because it is not fair to give you longer. I am sorry if this is inconvenient. Please could you exhibit/document and present to me the week before...or put up your exhibits and keep them up with the others - Stephen said he could take it down. You would then just need to present to me and another member of staff before you go. Sam Pricey and Ulysse Di Meglio- I spoke to janet about your GM homeless spikes idea. She thinks it would be OK if you did something impermanent, kept it up for a few hours and documented (e.g. observed and photographed) peoples responses so that it forms part of a larger narrative around attitudes to homelessness, etc. Regarding working solo. If some of you decide at this point to work solo, this is OK as long as there is a collaborative element overall. The collaboration could come with co-ordinating a mini-symposia with others, getting involved with publicity, putting your artwork in the group exhibition and/or appearing on Rowena Mehefin and Alistair Macdonalds map - if this is OK. All the best Beccy
