UPND Campaign promises! Two years is a long time. Together as Zambians we can do a lot of things. Here are some of the things a UPND government would do in the remaining two years; (1) Enact a new constitution - A lot of money, time and work have gone into the constitution making process. As UPND, we already have a road map for enacting of the constitution and we are confident we can deliver a new constitution within two years. (2) Restore fuel subsidies to lower the general cost of doing business and consequently the cost of living. (3) Remove the wage freeze and work on a meaningful wage package for all civil servants. Our promise has always been to align govt salaries to the JCTR cost of food basket. (4) Reinstate with immediate effect and unconditionally all the nurses fired by Dr Kasonde for demanding for a better life for their families. (5) Restore dignity to the men and women in uniform by allowing them more time on controlling crime and maintaining peace and order as opposed to setting them on political opponents. We hope that one day we will discover who killed Ruth Mbandu and the others. (6) Lower the interest rates to meaningful levels to ensure cheaper capital for businesses and consequently more jobs. (7) Stabilise and strengthen the Kwacha to eliminate imported inflation and allow businesses to plan (8) Reduce the cost of maize production to lower the cost of mealie meal and ensure that maize farming becomes profitable once again for our farmers. This will also lead to more jobs in the agriculture sector and reduce rural poverty. (9) Restore all qualifying students on government bursaries. To be continued.
