URGENT - CA - I just received a copy of Lobo the deaf white boxers full Evaluation report. He passed with flying colors. Sometimes when these dogs are brought in by officers or turned in they freak out a little in the shelter environment. After reading his evaluation it is deemed he has no aggression issues what so ever. They even took him and tested him in front of dog reactive aggressive dogs and he did not react. He has a $400 pledge for a 501c3 Rescue who can take him. He is at the Downey HIGH KILL Shelter and he needs rescue TOMORROW. Please share this with all your CA Boxer Rescue friends. Shenika will be honoring all the pledges by paying the $400 sponsorship fee and she can help with transport. If you can help Lobo please contact Shenika at sfelix1s@yahoo Here is the Eval Report in writing. Lobos - The Evaluation Lobo was not the most curious dog in the kennels at the shelter that day, nor was he the most social dog in the kernel that day. His simple stare with clear eyes and alert ears was enough for the officers to not socialize with Lobo. In my opinion since the dog was lacking hearing this was his attempt to show interest in his visitors. Dog showed no aggression to the fence, the officers or myself. Lobo is deaf. So the only communication is touch. Blowing air on Lobos face really excited him. Seeing signs of a normal dog in the shelter. We leashed lobo without any consequence, no resistance or anxiety. The dog walked along side us with no signs of stress of the new people or other dogs in the shelters kennels. This is where I took over put my safe leash on Lobo to conduct multiple character and stress test to evaluate his temperament. With gentle leash pressure the dog reacted very nicely and walked well with me. Upon first physical contact Lobo he was sensitive or a little jumpy to the contact, but non reactive to the contact. With more aggressive leash control, and more forced direction. Lobo showed no aggressive behavior and quickly conformed to my lead. More directional control making him sit with contact pressure, down with contact pressure. Paw and legs pressure contact control, dog just surrendered to my direction. We then let lobo free reign. To observe him with myself and the 3 officers in the turn out area, and normal shelter life progressing on, dogs walking different people walking and looking. Lobo showed no stress, or concerning behavior towards this environmental scenario. My final assessment was to observe Lobo near the aggressive dog area. To see if confronted with aggressive dogs would trigger any temperamental changes. Show leash aggression, dog aggression or handler aggression. Upon confronted inches from very aggressive dogs. Lobo showed zero reactive drives. This dogs has no dog aggression, leash aggression or handler aggression. Putting Lobo back into the kennel was just as simple as getting him out. While this dog was labeled aggressive upon arrival into the shelters care. Im convinced it was purely fearful and acute environmental change. Once settled in, and given a prospective to see who is coming around, the dog showed more of his natural drives because of this dogs disability deafness. My only concern with this type of case Is the isolated amount of people who can train or handle this type of dog, in my opinion electronics is the only way to communicate. The the even smaller amount of people who would be willing to adopt a dog with these special conditions with training and overall maintenance of Lobo Sincerely, Steve Henderson - CheckmateK9
