URGENT APPEAL - CAN ANYONE HELP? URGENT We have been contacted about a mum and a litter of 7 week old in another Rescue in London who are currently being treated for a fungal skin infection called ringworm. The rescue are going to put them to sleep (possibly later today) unless another Rescue can take them or a foster home can be found. Ringworm is a fairly common, treatable, fungal infection, it tends to cause small circular itchy patches on skin, and in animals the fur will fall out on that patch. Children often pick up ringworm and pass it around at school to their friends and to and from their pets. There are various treatments available: medications, ointments and baths and it usually clears up in about a month. Because its contagious to other animals its not something that is ideally treated within a rescue centre where there is the risk of it spreading to large numbers of other animals. Its important to keep them separate from other animals and for people to use disposable gloves and aprons when handling them. Our isolation spaces at both Lewisham and Canning Town Branch are currently occupied by other cats undergoing treatment for other contagious ailments. We cannot bear to let a mother cat and her litter of friendly 7 week old kittens be put to sleep. They are so young and this is just an annoying but easily treatable skin condition! Could anyone foster them? Ideally in an easy clean room such as a second bathroom?? Or a room with easily washable flooring? We can lend a cage to keep them in and would supply all food, litter and treatments. (They are already underway with treatment.) Please contact Lewisham Branch : [email protected] Please remember to include your contact tel no, we will be monitoring emails all day and will call you back. Thank you
