URGENT NEED YOUR HELP - CRUCIAL MEETING STOP THE OIL PROJECT – ATTEND THE SMMC MEETING ON JULY 22, 2013 WHOW recently learned that the Santa Monica Mountain Conservancy (SMMC) and MRCA are considering settling with the oil companies. On Monday July 22, 2013 at 8 p.m. SMMC will hold a board meeting in Calabasas; this board meeting is open to the public. We need a UNITED and STRONG showing of supporters at this meeting in order to apply pressure to their board as well as the representatives from Los Angeles County, City of Los Angeles, California State Senate and Assembly, and the California State Office of the Attorney General that are expected to be present. WE CAN NOT ALLOW THESE AGENCIES TO ALLOW DEVELOPMENT ON OUR OPEN SPACE LANDS. We must show them that the community is committed to NO oil drilling in the Whittier Hills. We are not out of the woods yet. We need to keep applying pressure if we want to ensure that this project remains dead. The oil companies feel they can buy their way back into our preserve. THEY MUST BE STOPPED. Please attend Monday’s meeting. This may be our only chance to stop the project! Please invite all of your friends and family!! This issue affects all tax payers in Los Angeles County. *Anyone interested in carpooling please contact Marta at (her email and #) MEETING DETAILS BELOW: Location: The meeting will be held at: King Gillette Ranch The Dormitory Building 26800 Mulholland Highway Calabasas, California Time: 7:30 p.m. — Meeting Convenes; Public Testimony: 8:00 p.m. to conclusion or 9:00 p.m. — whichever is earlier; Conservancy and Advisory Committee deliberations — 9:00 p.m. or at the conclusion of Representatives from many important political entities, including Los Angeles County, City of Los Angeles, California State Senate and Assembly, and California State Office of the Attorney General, are expected to be present.
