SADIES STORY Sadie was originally adopted from us when she was but a few weeks old back in late 2010 (she just turned four in the fall). Sadie is a Border Collie/Husky mix who is medium size (approx. 50 lbs). Sadie was returned to us under sad circumstances a few days ago: On Christmas day, Sadie unintentionally caused a tragedy for her family by becoming hyper (there was a lot of activity in the home, and we suspect all that extra energy served to wind Sadie up), and grabbing one of the familys cats; she had lived with this cat since she was a puppy, and never touched her. Sadly, the cat had to be euthanized owing to what the vet care would have cost (we had no knowledge of this until after the fact, so couldnt help), leaving the family devastated on Christmas. Sadies family felt they had no choice but to return her to us lest she hurt their remaining cat. They told us that she has a very loving personality with people, but has always been dominant with other animals. She has lived with another dog all her life: a submissive male Lab of similar size and the same age; were told she does better with larger dogs, and males. Sadie either has to go in with no other animals, or the other dog has to be submissive and playful (to keep up with Sadie, and not be bothered by her Border Collie-type high energy). She hasnt been exposed to a lot of young children, but are told she has been fine with the ones she has been around. However, until we become better acquainted with Sadie, we arent comfortable putting her in with small children. Sadie is currently stuck in a boarding kennel because she has nowhere else to go. We really want to get her back into a home environment; shed be much better off in a foster home while we work on an adoptive home. If you are active, have no other pets (or a medium to large size dog that is mellow, and will let her be the alpha female), please contact us!
