URGENT!!! URGENT!!! Dearest KnitWits for Madiba, Our goal posts have moved! Instead of 9000 blankets we are calling upon all of South Africa to come up with 21 000 blankets! This is a much more significant number. We will be celebrating 21 years of our democracy - hence we are calling upon all South Africans to (with their own two hands, stitch by stitch) make 21 000 blankets to place at the feet of the statue of Madiba at the Union Buildings in April this year. So, dear KnitWits, we have our work cut out for us. Please get EVERYONE you know to help us reach our goal. We have very little time but I know that we, as South Africans, love nothing more than a challenge. And this is a real CHALLENGE!! Lets show the world what we are made of!!! Stitch by stitch we pledge to keep thousands and thousands more people around our beautiful country warmer over all the winters to come, in the name of our beloved Nelson Mandela.
