URGENT news regarding the situation of the refugee wave in north-IRAQ!!! Please SHARE this release! Around 10km outside Erbil downtown in the town’s suburbs a unofficial refugee camp called "Qushtepa Park" started up about 2 weeks ago. The conditions are really terrible there! People told me there that UNHCR, UNICEF, no NGO nor any other aid organization have ever visited this camp. The people there are stranded due to the official camps being extremely overcrowded. Inside the Qushtepa Park there’s over 1000 people living without any shelter from the weather and the bruning sun or help forth-coming, especially medical help mainly families with little children. They have no toilet facilities and the smell of urine is on some places overpowering. In the surrounding neighbourhood there is around 6000 people living in the schools and public places of the village. Most of the people are from the Qamshli and Dirk area from Syria. Amongst them are a large numbers of disabled people. Thankfully they are being provided with food and water from the Mayor of this region of Erbil. The unofficial camp started to take shape on the 18th of August but the majority of the people arrived 7 days ago. The situation there for them is deteriorating quickly. These people really need help and relief items like tents, bathroom facilities and other essential goods. After returning from the camp I was directly calling my contact of UNHCR Iraq to explain them the ongoing situation there. UNHCR told me that they know about that camp and been there a while ago! But nothing happend till yet and the people are on their own, without any help!
