URGENT to all skippers SPECIAL WINTER RACING EVENT THIS SUNDAY We have arranged a special racing event next Sunday (August 17) which will involve a resail of the abandoned Race 3 of the Northland Spars and Rigging Open Winter Series and a trial of a new combined format with Russell Boating Club. OCC and RBC are considering whether a combined winter series next year might work well but no decisions will be made until after this trial. So, this coming Sunday the resail of Race 3 will start at 1230 from a committee-boat start-line somewhere on a line between Russell and the NSR Southern Channel Markers. We will be joined by the Russell Boating Club fleet. All boats who start will be counted as starters in the races of both clubs. I apologise that this clashes with the cruising barbeque event scheduled for that day but this a good chance to trial a format which might rejuvenate our ailing winter racing programme. Race instructions and the course will be circulated by email later in the week and you might like to register your interest to paulfrance60@gmail to ensure you receive this information although it will be available at the OCC clubhouse on Sunday morning 1030 to 1130 and from the committee boat at the start.
