US Artist Big K.R.I.T. Crowned 2014 Emcee of the year by Hip-Hop DX, Zambians must learn that popularity is not a lyrical aspect of Rapping American rapper Big K.R.I.T. became the first southern lyricist to be crowned as 2014 emcee of the year by Hip-Hop DX, arguably the largest online Hip-Hop website. US Emcee of the Year title holder is usually considered as the best rapper or emcee in the world. Big K.R.I.T. managed to beat strong contender’s likes of Vince Staples and Logic that came second and third respectively. While most casual listeners will be voting for the less deep lyrically rappers like Rick Ross, Young Geezy, Future, 2 Chains, Tyga, Nicki Minaj and many other mainstream or famous rappers, HHDX carried on tradition to promote the art of rap by choosing Big K.R.I.T who may not be known by many of today’s listeners. This is not what happens in Zambia, most fans will question local underground rappers or lyricists that on-line Hip-Hop sites cover because they think popularity makes one a superior emcee than others. Recently underground charged emcee K.R.Y.T.I.C shamed lyrical critics and groupies who are mainly mainstream fans as he managed to get a rare deal with South Africas hottest emcee Casper Nyovest. Zambians must learn that popularity is not a lyrical aspect of Rapping. However, if one is popular does not mean he or she is average but mostly in USA the term mainstream is used by Hip-Hop heads to refer to music arts that are poorly produced or un-artistic musicians Is Big K.R.I.T worth keeping the world Hip-Hop crown as the emcee of the year in 2014?
