US Embassy in France Security Message for US Citizens In response to the recent attacks on the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a French newspaper, in the 11th district of Paris, the Government of France has elevated its threat level for the Paris region to “alerte attentat,” which is the highest level of threat alert. The Government of France has reinforced security around media outlets, major shopping venues, sites of religions worship, and transportation networks in the Paris region. The perpetrators are still at large. U.S. citizens are strongly encouraged to maintain a high level of vigilance, be aware of local events, and take the appropriate steps to bolster their personal security. Additionally they are encouraged to monitor media and the French government’s Ministry of Interior website (risques.gouv.fr), which is in French, for the latest information on security conditions.
