US Envoy to encourage investment in North East India | The Assam Tribune US Consul General Helen LaFave has assured to encourage business firms from the US to come forward to invest in the Northeastern region, specially Nagaland. Addressing a press conference in Kohima on Tuesday night, LaFave said, “If the American companies have interest to come for investment in Nagaland or elsewhere in the North East region, they are free to contact her office in Kolkata.” “We do help them with advisory and encourage them to come to this part of the world for investment,” she said. Asked whether she finds the region safe for American firms to come for investment, she said the situation is not the same in every state as there are areas which are very peaceful, but the companies have to decide for themselves. LaFave, who is in Nagaland for the second time after she took over as Consul General in Kolkata in August 2013, said she wants to learn more about the American missionaries who came to Nagaland in the 19th century and brought the gospel and educated the Naga people.
