US Government Hypocrisy towards Egypt: For the past several decades, as Coptic Orthodox Christians (Copts), women and children have been marginalized, persecuted and killed in Egypt - by the American supported dictator Hosni Mubarak and his successor Mohammed Mursi - the United States government has NEVER seriously considered making US Aid to Egypt conditional. In meetings with the White House and State Department, Senior Officials have made it clear that Human Rights violations against Copts, women and children would not derail their strategic partnership with Egypt. US Govt leaders made it clear that a discussion of making foreign aid to Egypt conditional was off-limits, becoming a seemingly offensive point of discussion. As a result of their decision in October (details included in the link at the bottom), as well as its current policy, I can only view the State Departments policy towards Egypt with disgust. Although the public statements have implied that aid has been cut due to the military coup, what is unquestionable is the US Governments unwavering commitment to terrorist organizations, such as the Muslim Brotherhood, in spite of a popular revolution. Although some have suggested that these decision have been implemented with a lack of understanding on the part of the US Govt, I cannot give them a pass. Every action and decision the US takes is strategic and purposeful. To what end will this US Administration Support radical terrorist organizations, while doing nothing when innocents are marginalized? What is clear is that the only interest that this Administration has with regards to Egypt (or any other foreign country) is the interest of the United States an the multinational corporations.
