GRO will feature a variety of presentations exemplifying the best of El Pasos sustainable success stories. There will also be an opportunity for attendees to share their own personal green stories via a live stream testimonial booth. Copia About GRO: Growth concerns the evolution of our community, not in a haphazard manner but through inclusive processes that begin with increasing knowledge, understanding and capacity building for all segments of the community. The long-term goal is not only to construct a dynamic and well-informed plan, but to catalyze the necessary resources needed to implement that plan and finally advance our city beyond the reactionary approaches of the past. Positive growth is dependent on the capacity to move forward; learning from our mistakes and capitalizing on our success. Resilience centers on rational and proactive transformational shifts. If growth is about change, then resilience is about our communitys ability to respond positively to that change. Transformational shifts occur at environmental, economic, and societal levels. The GRO Initiative will focus on how we can survive, adapt and grow in the face of chronic stresses and acute shocks. It is critical to explore solutions to existing barriers, myths and misunderstandings associated with sustainability and its impact on the dominant issues economic development and stability in our city. El Pasos ability to be resilient lies in the strength of our culture, our capacity forpublic engagement and the positive manner in which we choose to shape our own future. Opportunity comes in infinite variety. Whatever form it takes, it means the formation of a set of circumstances that can make anything possible.GRO is about making sure everyone has a say in our sustainable future. Part of the mission of the USGBC Chihuahuan Desert Chapter is to provide access to informational resources in an open, interactive environment that is inclusive of everyone. We welcome open debate and often learn from new ideas that may at first seem in conflict with our own. GRO is about bringing all ideas together in an effort to discover new sustainable opportunities for El Paso and the surrounding communities. Opportunity is not found in a vacuum. It requires many hands and many minds working in concert.
