US Military Boots on the Ground to fight Ebola. U.S. Army - TopicsExpress

US Military Boots on the Ground to fight Ebola. U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) (pronounced: you-SAM-rid) is located in Frederick, MD at Fort Detrick. It has been studying Ebola and has quietly had boots on the ground in Liberia and Sierra Leona to conduct laboratory research. Now the US will step up its presence to fight Ebola. President Obama announced on NBC’s Meet the Press yesterday (Sunday). Were going to have to get U.S. military assets just to set up, for example, isolation units and equipment there, to provide security for public health workers surging from around the world. The CDC is also deploying 50 workers. We’re creating the vaccine; no doubt we’ll be paying for it. And now we need to send our military men and women into these countries to control crowds and guard isolation units? We are also preparing to engage in engineering and logistics, building isolation units, bringing in equipment. It’s frightening to me. I hope the military personnel get to decide whether to take the assignments.
