US Open Womens Singles Draw Analysis - Top Half :- SERENA WILLIAMS 1R - Taylor Townsend 2R - Schiavone/Vania King 3R - S.Zhang/Mona Barthel 4R - Suarez Navarro/Stosur QF - Ivanoic SF - Kvitova/Bouchard F - Halep/Sharapova/Radwanska Beatable draw for Serena even if doubts are mounting up over her. A probably-entertaining first round match with countrywoman and talented Taylor Townsend is on the cards, which might be a cracker of a match, but from there the draw eases up and Serena possibly racing into the quarterfinals. But there, she meets familiar foe Ivanovic whos high on confidence going into the Open, or the veteran of last years US Open Pennetta. In the semis, she can face big-hitters Kvitova, Azarenka (whos not in the best shape of her career) or Canandian catalyst Bouchard. But in NYC and on the hard-courts here, the wily women I think wont beat Serena. So, book her for the finals please? EUGENIE BOUCHARD 1R - O.Govortsova 2R - Heather Watson/Sorana Cirstea 3R - Zahlavova-Strycova-so-many-ovas-nowadays-in-tennis-no? 4R - Cibulkova/Makarova QF - Kvitova/Azarenka/Kuznetsova SF - S.Williams F - Sharapova/Halep/Radwanska Quiet less beatable compared to Serenas serene section, even more so if you realize that Bouchard has won just one match since her breakthrough finals appearance at Wimbledon. Easy opener but in the second round she faces either Watson or Sorana. Both these women are talented and will be highly confident. But if Bouchard is playing the way she played this year in the big tournaments, theres not much to worry for her. The 5 Ovas in her draw are dampeners to her path of dedicating a Grand Slam to You-Know-Who (not Voldemort, someone even more evil! Hint : hes hated, he spits on people, he drives drunk, he causes break-ups in his field of work... and hes a Canadian) but these are the dampeners she can overcome. Then in the quarterfinals, there comes an Ova again. Kvitova... and do you know why I did not label Petra with the 5 fore-mentioned Ovas? Because Kvitovas of a different territory, a territory much advanced both game-wise and mind-wise. Shes the Wimbledon champion but she has a knack of losing early in NYC, yet shes quiet distinguished. While beating Kvitova, if she makes it to the quarters, is an uphill task... Bouchard would go for it. But if she wins, in the next match she faces Serena. The virtual end to her journey, but taking in the fact that she has made the semifinals or better in her last 3 Grand Slams; she would be willing to try to make it up to Serena. Watch out for: Kuznetsova who won the Open a decade ago, Azarenka, Elina Svitolina, Dominika Cibulova the long forg-AO-tten, and the native American pipe-dreamers. Bottom Half :- SIMONA HALEP 1R - D.Collins 2R - Jana Cepelova/MT Flor-which-rhymes-with-floor 3R - Garbine Muguruza 4R - Errani/V.Williams QF - Sharapova/Wozniacki SF - A.Radwanska/Kerber F - S.Williams This one lies on the cusp of hard and easy. Halep is deemed to get through the opening two rounds easily, but in the third round Garbine Muguruza awaits her; and she wont Halep pass without a stern test. In the fourth round, barring any mishap ofcourse (in my dictionary, mishap means Venus Williams choking up a very good chance of making it deep in a slam. For instance, check 2014 French Open or Wimbledon), she meets the elder one of the Williams duo. Again, tough nut to crack but Halep indeed is a fighter. If she survives Venus, she meets Sharapova or Wozniacki in the quarterfinals and then Radwanska in the semifinals. Shell be out the minute she takes these women for granted. If Halep plays tight as ever, Halep should be able to make the finals. MARIA SHARAPOVA 1R - M.Kirilenko 2R - Pliskova/A.Dulghuru 3R - Lisicki 4R - Wozniacki/Petkovic QF - Halep SF - A.Radwanska/Kerber F - S.Williams Beauty will be at uber-display (if that is a term) in the first round as these two suave Marias collide. Too bad its not such a match-up outside of the beauty criterion. I dont see anyone hampering Sharapovas chances of reaching the qaurterfinals other than Wozniacki, but never be sure of what Wozniacki plays like. One day, shes so ferocious that winners seem like London rain and the next day shes at shanking easy slices. In the quarters she faces off against veteran Venus or Halep. Most possibly Halep, and then comes the Sharapova-Halep juggernaut Part 3. Amazing tennis, and I think the victor of this predicted match will reach the finals and gun against Serena. AGNIESZKA RADWANSKA 1R - S.Finchman-shoudlnt-it-be-Finchwoman?? 2R - Zheng Jie/S.Peng 3R - Roberta Vinci 4R - Safarova/Alize Cornet QF - Kerber/Jankovic SF - Sharapova/Halep F - S.Williams Seemingly a dull section of a draw even though it boasts of imperially talented women like Radwanska. Radwanska should be able to reach the fourth round quiet easily but there, she faces either Safarova or Cornet. Safarova with her blazing forehand and Cornet with her calculated game can beat the Radwanska the mental-midget but if Radwanska leaves her mentally weak half back in her hotel room and instead comes with the focussed and concentrated half; Radwanska marches on. In the quarterfinals, she faces either Kerber or second-fiddle Serbian Jelena Jankovic. These women can beat Radwanska, always, but Radwanska is a changed woman now I think. Shes done mentally abandoning matches, and should she not revert to this infamous habit; count her in for the semifinals. There, she meets either one of Sharapova or Halep. Agnieszkas a cynosure to everyones eyes, to mine aswell.... but with all due respect here is where she bids her buh-bye to the trophy. Watch out for : Venus Williams who probably would be tempting to beat her sister for the second time in a month... but for that she must reach the finals, Wozniacki, Garbine Muguruza, eyesore-to-all Sabine Lisicki, Belinda Bencic and tantrum-throwing Sloane Stephens. PREDICTIONS :- 4th Round S.Williams vs Stosur F.Pennetta vs Ivanovic Kvitova vs Kuznetsova E.Svitolina vs Bouchard Kerber vs Stephens Safarova vs Radwanska Sharapova vs Wozniacki V.Williams vs Halep QFs S.Williams vs Ivanovic Kuznetsova vs Bouchard Stephens vs Radwanska Sharapova vs Halep SFs S.Williams vs Kuznetsova Radwanska vs Halep Finals S.Williams vs Halep CHAMPION - Serena Williams, reigning supremene in what would be a great match if happens.
