US S China Sea report rejects Chinas nine-dash line claim wantchinatimes/news-subclass-cnt.aspx?id=20141214000080&cid=1101 A report published by the US Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs on Dec. 5 on the territorial disputes over the South China Sea is an attempt by the US to maintain its interests in Asia under the pretense of analyzing Southeast Asian countries claims in the region according to Duowei News, a US-based Chinese political news website. The report rejected the nine-dash line that China uses to demarcate its territory in the region, and which it has submitted to the UN. The report said that the line is not consistent with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea or the International Law of the Sea and that the historical and legal evidence that China claims supports its sovereignty over the waters also did not comply with specific articles of the convention which ban countries from overriding one anothers rights to Exclusive Economic Zones and continental shelves based on history-based maritime claims. chinatimes/ No you cant: Obama an unwilling product endorser in China wantchinatimes/news-subclass-cnt.aspx?cid=1302&MainCatID=13&id=20140619000008 The image and likeness of the American president, Barack Obama, is being used in a wide range of advertisements across China without his permission or knowledge, reports Yicai, the website of Shanghais China Business News. Chinese appliance maker Homa has recently rolled out a commercial featuring artwork in the likeness of Obama with the tagline Homa is WHO. Homa is nearly identical to Obama in Chinese save for a single syllable in the middle. While this type of advertising is not unheard of for small enterprises, Homa is a major original design manufacturer for overseas markets and has made refrigerators for international brands including Electrolux and Whirlpool. In China, it is against the law to market products using the image or likeness of state leaders or create the assumption that state organs or their employees are endorsing a product. The rules are less clear in the case of foreign leaders. Homa is far from the only Chinese company to be using Obamas image or likeness to promote their products. On a major road in Xian, the capital of northwest Chinas Shaanxi province, there was once a large billboard for a real estate company that includes a photo of Obama and a quote attributed to him. The billboard was eventually ordered to be taken down. Shenzhen-based Haff Communications, which produces a Blackberry knock-off called the Blockberry, also uses a photo of Obama in one of its advertisements along with the suggestion that he uses their Blockberry 9500 phone. Despite only around half of voters casting a ballot, the conservative Abe claimed popular endorsement for his mix of nationalism and “Abenomics” — a signature plan to fix the countrys flaccid economy that enjoyed early success but faded into a recession. “The ruling coalition has been given a majority,” Abe told a television interviewer. “We humbly want to meet the publics expectations. https://facebook/photo.php?fbid=787575831301585&set=a.233036240088883.56375.100001475257866&type=1 https://translate.google.tw/ wantchinatimes/ theweek/ theweek.co.uk/ online.wsj/asia cn.wsj/big5/index.asp...... want-daily/portal.php defense.gov/ chinapost.tw/ https://cia.gov/index.html time/ studentpost.tw/esp_samples/around.asp fbi.gov/ nasa.gov/ washingtonpost/ reuters/ bbc.co.uk/zhongwen/trad international.nytimes/ m.bbc.co.uk/ukchina/simp people.cn/ big5.gov.cn/gate/big5/gov.cn/ big5.cntv.cn/gate/big5/cntv.cn/index.shtml whitehouse.gov/ gov.cn/ https://gov.uk/ qkankan/asia/japan/government/ maihwa.tw/about05.html
