USA-FRANCE RELATIONS – WHEN TERROR STRIKES… PLAY A SONG? As Secretary of State John Kerry arrives in Paris, counter-terrorism raids sweep Europe and lead to arrests in France, Belgium and Germany Listen to the clip here. I love that song by James Taylor! It means a lot to me: one of my brothers sent it to me years ago and “You’ve got a friend” sounded so sweet and consoling at that moment. But, it was a surprising gesture of “emotional support to France and its president” for, as the reporter states, “France needs more than that.” I could not help but notice that Catholic Kerry sounded a lot like Pope Francis: “I really wanted to come here and share a hug with all of Paris” – almost identical words to those of the Pope in the Philippines. His warmth and genuine love are worth imitating, but... All so strange, the U.S. government’s response to the terrorist attacks in France and elsewhere in Europe. “Striking an emotional cord” is a new kind of foreign relations. nbcnews/nightly-news/europe-alert-police-arrest-dozens-anti-terror-raids-n287881
