USDA Announces 2014 Small Grains Projected Prices and Winter Malting Barley Additional Value Price SPOKANE, Wash., September 17, 2013 – USDA’s Risk Management Agency (RMA) today announced the 2014 projected prices for winter and spring wheat and winter barley and the Malting Barley Additional Value Price (winter type) for Idaho, Oregon and Washington. CROP TYPE PROJECTED PRICE VOLATILITY FACTOR Barley (Alaska) All Spring TBD approx. 3/1/14 Barley Winter (with winter coverage and without winter coverage) $4.42/bu. 0.21 Barley All Spring TBD approx. 3/1/14 Wheat (Alaska) Spring TBD approx. 3/1/14 Wheat Winter $6.72/bu. 0.22 Wheat Spring $7.54/bu. 0.23 RMA also announced an additional value price for 2014 Malting Barley (winter type) under Option A at $0.85 per bushel. The additional value price for the spring malting type will be announced in early March, 2014. These prices are critical for producers who are evaluating their crop insurance coverage options. Sales closing date for fall planted barley with winter coverage and all wheat in Idaho, Oregon and Washington states is September 30. Producers should contact their local multi-peril crop insurance (MPCI) agent for complete crop insurance details.
