USGS Mendenhall Post-Doc - Sea-level Rise and Shoreline Change The USGS is accepting applications for a post-doctoral fellowship at the Coastal and Marine Science Center in St. Petersburg, FL. This opportunity is to conduct investigations to improve understanding of shoreline response to temporal and spatial variations in sea level rise and develop models that predict shoreline response. Research activities are expected to utilize extensive existing databases of shorelines and rates of shoreline change and include the development of analytical approaches for resolving past shoreline response to sea level rise and models that improve the ability to assess future shoreline change. The scope may also include elements of data development to fill in spatial or temporal gaps required to improve the understanding of the range of interactions between sea level, storms, coastal morphology, sediment budgets, and shoreline change. The successful candidate will develop a proposal in response to the research opportunity, full details of which may be found at geology.usgs.gov/postdoc/opps/2015/15-36%20Hapke.htm. Mendenhall program applicants have flexibility in the development of proposals to meet the goals of the research opportunity. Interested applicants may find additional information, including how to apply, at geology.usgs.gov/postdoc/. Interested applicants may also contact the research advisors for more information on this specific opportunity.
