USING CHILD SOLDIERS VERSUS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT: On 17 - TopicsExpress

USING CHILD SOLDIERS VERSUS INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT: On 17 July 1998, the international community reached an historic milestone when 120 States adopted the Rome Statute, the legal basis for establishing the permanent International Criminal Court. The International Criminal Court (ICC), governed by the Rome Statute, is the first permanent, treaty based, international criminal court established to help end impunity for the perpetrators of the most serious crimes of concern to the international community. If this court had been established earlier than 1980, some of the leaders we love and dont want to leave would either be ICC fugitives or would be in the Hague serving a bigger sentence for war crimes and crimes against humanity as well as abduction and forceful conscription of children into rebel activities. Thank God it was formed later. Happy Anniversary Sevo and your NRM Liberation heroes.
