USM management sinks to a new low. After firing 25 tenured professors, several of them by voice mail, the University is now threatening to reduce the severance pay of retrenched faculty who do not agree to come back to teach classes on a part time basis. Their severance pay will be docked by the amount that theyd be paid to teach part time. This retaliation fortunately (???) only applies if offers to teach part time are made for periods of 18 months or longer.
