USMAPS Cross Country Update: On Saturday the Cross Country team traveled to Newport, Rhode Island to compete in the annual Army-Navy Cross Country meet. This historic tradition is without a doubt one of the greatest college rivalries that still exists and provided the men and women their first opportunity to participate. Both the men and women competed on a 3.05 mile course which consisted of many head to head finishes within the last 100 meters of the race. The men’s top five finishers consisted of Andy Arenz, Killian Tooke, Andy Arata, Connor Russell, and Donovan Baugh. The final score of the men’s competition was 22-36 (lower score wins) with Navy taking the victory. The women’s race was scored based on the top three finishers consisting of Benjamin Jenerette, Ashley Pegues, and Lauren Fairfax who were bested by Navy with a final score of 6-21. Last weekend concluded the 2014 Cross Country season for both the men and women. Each member of the team recorded season bests in their final competition which speaks to their hard work and determination on a daily basis. The team now makes a transition to Indoor Track and will begin competition December 6th as it competes at the Crowell Open in Gillis Field House. Very Respectfully, 2LT Matt Green Athletic Intern
