USMAPS Soccer: The USMAPS soccer team traveled to New Rochelle, NY on Saturday, September 27th 2014 to play Monroe College. Although the Vanguards lost 2 - 0, they played their best game of the season. Goalkeeper Jake Plotsky helped anchor a very strong defense against a very quick and technical opponent. Defenders Theo Felder, Brian DeGori, and Jake Spelce all played great games illustrated by the fact that Monroe only had seven shots the whole game. The USMAPS soccer team had a chance to draw level to Monroe when forward Martin Lasprilla was fouled inside the penalty box, however the Vanguards could not convert. Despite being down, the offense did not give up and continued to pressure Monroe. Monroe again thwarted the Vanguards efforts to tie the game when they cleared a shot off of the goal line. The Vanguards will have time off to recover from a high paced season and will continue play against Rockland Community College on Saturday, October 20th here at USMAPS.
