UTAH FRIENDS Gary Harris and myself will be at the ST. Patricks - TopicsExpress

UTAH FRIENDS Gary Harris and myself will be at the ST. Patricks day Parade in SLC this morning passing out pamphlets on the affordable care act. Im not going to try and change anyones mind about their political affiliation, but I think its important for people to have truth and the whole picture before making decisions about walking away from any program. Utah is one of the States whos Governor chose not to take the federal money for Medicaid expansion. But we have a heavily invested church base with its own program for welfare so Im sure that is helping the state to some degree. What Utah can do is not the measure of what other states and their Governors will do. 5,000,000 and more have signed up for health insurance and many have never had it. There are indicators that this will not only help the deficit but will pull down hospital and medical fees and affect the insurance costs while giving us more health care per dollar spent. This should also make some difference in Michigans no fault auto insurance. This was a closely watched and envied form of insurance but when regulations were cut on hospital and Dr. Bills, insurance sky rocketed it was affected by the rising doctor and hospital charges included in their auto no fault policies. Your Governor did take the expansion and hopefully the shrinking of unpaid for ER visits will quickly show some signs of improvement. If I ask you to do only one thing, please close your eyes to the political fight and read the other side before making a decision. This began as a Massachusetts Republican idea, and it moved slow, but now you cant get them to let it go. This is the first year our premiums didnt go up and our benefits didnt shrink. We have state government insurance and we have had our rates consistently go over the last 15 years and out co pays have more than doubled. Up to last year I was paying $35 a visit. This year Im paying $25. I recieved letters every year indicating changes in our policy, taking away things or charging more for things. Since to.is act was passed we have free preventative care and they are being made to spend more dollars on healthcare or you will receive a refund the following year. This is the beginning of a program where there are guidelines even though there are those who are worried and dont want to give up their policies that can fall short of their needs. I get the trust issue. But no one is going to benefit from its defeat except those who are getting bonuses on the other end, and so many will benefit from its success. Change is scary, and weve all had to deal with all kinds of change and fear. My father in law feared Social Security and opted out. It was new and scary but when all was said and done it pulled our seniors out of poverty. Policies must be allowed to change to give all the benefit. So at the very least lets have honest conversation about improving instead of just getting rid of programs that will benefit us all. AHCA is constitutional, more people favor it even if they would like to see reform. Too many tax dollars have been used trying to repeal this bill. Millions of our citizens will lose their health care benefits to appease a group of people who wont listen to its benefits. Again this was a lovely idea until someone on the other team suggested it. All the differences between us should never grow and get bigger than the one thing that makes us a like, WE ARE AMERICANS.
