UTAH STATE PARKS EVENTS September 27 Goblin Valley State Park – Green River Geology of the San Rafael Swell: Join us at 10 a.m., for a geologic walk through time. Learn how the area was formed and why it looks the way it does. Meet at the observation point. 435-275-4584 September 27 – 28 Camp Floyd State Park and Museum – Fairfield Johnston’s Army Adventure Camp: Scouts travel back in time to 1858–1861 and enter the world of a soldier with Johnston’s Army. New recruits are processed, mustered into the army and issued uniforms. Camp curriculum is designed to complete the requirements for the American Heritage Merit Badge and the National Historic Trails Award. Camp size is limited to 30 scouts and leaders. Registration is $20 per person and includes all camp materials, breakfast, and overnight stay in recreated military tents. Scouts must provide their own sleeping gear. 801-768-8932 September 28 Antelope Island State Park – Syracuse Daylong Events: Join us at 11 a.m., in the visitor center to learn about the sights, sounds and creatures of nature at night. Participants will earn an Antelope Island Junior Ranger Badge. At 1 p.m., join us at the Fielding Garr Ranch for a moderate four-mile hike to the Daddy Stump Home discussing the island’s history that surrounds this site. Space is limited. From 3 to 4 p.m., enjoy the cowboy poetry of C.R. Woods. Also at 3 p.m., join the park naturalist on a guided kayak tour to learn about the levels of Lake Bonneville, the ebb and flow of Great Salt Lake and other fun facts. Join us at 10 a.m., for a three-mile round-trip backcountry adventure to this hidden treasure that only a handful of visitors have ever seen. Some rock scrambling is involved. One liter of water per person is recommended. Flashlights are not needed. Meet at the Carmel Canyon Trailhead in the observation point parking lot. 435-275-4584 September 28 Sand Hollow State Park – Hurricane Mob Mayhem: Join us for a day of events on the south shore of the Cotton Tree area. Activities include paddle boarding, a blob, jet skis, food and live music.
