UW Health and United Way create health insurance resource for people formerly on BadgerCare. This new partnership will provide financial assistance for the cost of insurance premiums for plans purchased through the Marketplace. HealthConnect is made possible through a special $2 million contribution from UW Health. HealthConnect will assist the approximately 7,300 Dane County residents whose income is between 100 and 133 percent of the federal poverty level to pay for silver-level health plans secured through the HIM. The HIM offers plans at the platinum, gold, silver and bronze benefit levels. To enroll in the program, people must first log onto the HIM by visiting healthcare.gov or call (800) 318-2596 and purchase any silver level coverage plan. Next, they should call United Way 2-1-1 or visit unitedwaydanecounty.org/healthconnect and submit a short application form. Opportunities for local in-person assistance for enrollment will be announced in early October.
